We are obviously not finished decorating, as we need some more furniture (...a kitchen table...) and we need some rugs and pictures. We have a few pictures, but I can't decide where they will look right! Ray bought the quilt rack from an antique store here in Fletcher. I had been looking online for one (I really wanted a quilt ladder), but I came home from work one day and he surprised me! I love it. <br />
<br />
The moving out process:<br />
<br />
Our apartment lease ended on our closing day. We asked our apartment managers if we could have an extra weekend (even offered to pay for it) so that we could move out and clean. They only gave us one option: pay for another month at the month-to-month rate. No thank you! So, we had to be moved out and clean the apartment by closing day and then move into the house <i>on</i> closing day. Well, we did it and all went well! :)<br />
We moved out completely on our own. We rented a 16' truck (got a good discount because Ray's boss's wife is the manager at a storage company), loaded it and left it in the parking lot at our apt. for 5 days. We ended up having to rent a UHaul van as well because all of our stuff didn't fit on the truck. So, here's what our apartment looked like for those 5 days:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzTdwlh9APCybTQ43Vi5lscbMnM03yW_zlw4iTeYgZdiz3r_LjNQItJrZy3Aiu-my5g-IimAU5Zh26LQXkodSVjGn6z_uypYzU5ZNM5URAIanDVfl4J9cA2iw5dPvpcC0eOxyI1sr05rNa/s1600/bed.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzTdwlh9APCybTQ43Vi5lscbMnM03yW_zlw4iTeYgZdiz3r_LjNQItJrZy3Aiu-my5g-IimAU5Zh26LQXkodSVjGn6z_uypYzU5ZNM5URAIanDVfl4J9cA2iw5dPvpcC0eOxyI1sr05rNa/s320/bed.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We turned the living room into our bedroom. It was kind of fun. ;) </div><br />
<br />
Loading the truck was a workout, but thanks to the help of an appliance dolly, we had no trouble or sore muscles! Best $11 we've ever spent!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-oSM3TdUq3Syb7EQwmpFZqqJIFM8HaYysnM9XW_31Gv0MhU17XIYWJ3eJPdfWyjppts4pNPGDJwh1EZf_oYKxfBaZg77s1iifpdK0_x0mmJIa5bOZz3LUgRAlD-YRqDf1V6pv_OCwkbKu/s1600/dolly.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-oSM3TdUq3Syb7EQwmpFZqqJIFM8HaYysnM9XW_31Gv0MhU17XIYWJ3eJPdfWyjppts4pNPGDJwh1EZf_oYKxfBaZg77s1iifpdK0_x0mmJIa5bOZz3LUgRAlD-YRqDf1V6pv_OCwkbKu/s320/dolly.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I'm not going to lie, we were both grouchy all day loading the truck and had some pretty bad tempers flying, but at the end of the day... we were smiling and loving each other more than ever. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKJvJFfTzL7pHZO5WSUUVKZtMDqX-uzRXaNZCnCrEiPSYoEcOASk-Bs8eYvngVopai4LrhhyYKOuq1WsZPx6ZsQ0vCLO_LI5Cwbfi6EAIwataTkRBZnh3TbB-_AaWnWrkBFYle9Ebjlztv/s1600/washer%253Adryer.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKJvJFfTzL7pHZO5WSUUVKZtMDqX-uzRXaNZCnCrEiPSYoEcOASk-Bs8eYvngVopai4LrhhyYKOuq1WsZPx6ZsQ0vCLO_LI5Cwbfi6EAIwataTkRBZnh3TbB-_AaWnWrkBFYle9Ebjlztv/s320/washer%253Adryer.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The night before closing, we decided last minute to stay in a hotel so that we could have everything totally packed. It was so funny when the hotel clerk looked at Ray's ID and saw that we lived just right down the road. She told us to "have fun!" I seriously think she thought we were having affairs or something. Haha! I took Thursday (closing day) off and Ray took a half day. We met the lawyer at 10:00 and sealed the deal by 11:30. It went so smoothly! We loved our lawyer and our agent. Our agent even gave us a $50 gift card to Home Depot. So nice! Here's a picture of us signing. This is when Ray realized he still had his name tag on from work! Haha. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSgJcMTxWt-DCKsGK9OllSiktWXYGpVf9GgRnedcU2aqjr0HBHuYhjKMOu3dZt63cLasOctvV3Ih2OjnnaysygxUbAo5poXDaNjtLJLEJs8KNs7j0ipT2uoc4yPOf3NZSL2MQsK40AD7Da/s1600/IMG_0273.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSgJcMTxWt-DCKsGK9OllSiktWXYGpVf9GgRnedcU2aqjr0HBHuYhjKMOu3dZt63cLasOctvV3Ih2OjnnaysygxUbAo5poXDaNjtLJLEJs8KNs7j0ipT2uoc4yPOf3NZSL2MQsK40AD7Da/s320/IMG_0273.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">After signing, the race was on. We had to have the van unloaded and back to UHaul and our apartment keys turned in by 5:30. So, we grabbed a quick lunch and enjoyed our first meal at the house:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3iXvGWmlRDiRAwV_wBIIuVUVSUHyYSF_-RklV6g61LE-pir8wjEnGTsyimBw4sQr9yGM0gm8bZcLfqpFjIJ96tbiX_YyJXHL192cV3FKPmhVM4kZnx15dVm72NnI5PVgjPgAJMe8tqiqL/s1600/First+meal.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3iXvGWmlRDiRAwV_wBIIuVUVSUHyYSF_-RklV6g61LE-pir8wjEnGTsyimBw4sQr9yGM0gm8bZcLfqpFjIJ96tbiX_YyJXHL192cV3FKPmhVM4kZnx15dVm72NnI5PVgjPgAJMe8tqiqL/s320/First+meal.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">For me, moving in was so easy! I just stayed inside and unloaded boxes as they came in. Ray's friend/colleague and now our neighbor, Dennis, was there to help unload. They did all the lifting. I was so thankful!! And if that wasn't enough from Dennis, his wife brought us muffins and cookies that night. We are so happy to have such sweet friends right down the street! I think the hardest part for them was getting this old lopsided mattress up the stairs. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfBPGqTd9SpV1I454V8kxnpAD6Zm5P9dx2B2kEMWQnIp_VMhN9Cajsl_vkBik4XUefwQThfvfgxW67AKBqZnrbSpKbFNnTVQPQzWPG77hBzHLIMyFy8MdkVgBY2DgVrpTKZYFuXIe1F9LY/s1600/Dennis.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfBPGqTd9SpV1I454V8kxnpAD6Zm5P9dx2B2kEMWQnIp_VMhN9Cajsl_vkBik4XUefwQThfvfgxW67AKBqZnrbSpKbFNnTVQPQzWPG77hBzHLIMyFy8MdkVgBY2DgVrpTKZYFuXIe1F9LY/s320/Dennis.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We were done with everything...unpacking, organizing, etc. by Friday night! I couldn't take the boxes and mess any longer than that. ;) </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Please come visit us soon, especially as it gets warmer. Ray bought a grill (we've used it twice already!) and our pool is just down the street, so the summer will definitely be fun! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now, Ray and I are making the "long" trip to downtown Asheville (we're closer to downtown Hendersonville now) to have a few drinks... after all, I'm officially on SPRING BREAK!</div>KG + RGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09327987194782967937noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4309046736627276022.post-74327064970166804412011-04-07T22:35:00.002-04:002011-07-20T22:37:58.264-04:00House!!Thought you might like to see some pictures of the house! Ray is doing a great job about trying to eat some leaner meats instead of burgers, ribs, etc. when we go out to eat. He's also being more aware of how much calories/fat/sodium are in food before he eats it. I'm trying to eat more mindfully and eat less sweets. But, my biggest goal right now is strength training. I've <i>never </i>strength trained consistently. I always thought that cardio was more important than anything else. (Ray has always told me otherwise.) I finally took his advice to heart and I started going to a class called Muscle Pump at the Y. It's every Tuesday and Thursday and it is tough! My first class was on Tuesday and I went again today. (I'm going to go every Tuesday and Thursday.) I can seriously already feel a difference in my arms! Of course, I'm sore everywhere, but I can really feel some muscles building in my arms. Woo hoo! I'm so excited about it that I had to post about it. Haha. I can't wait to see my body change because of it.<br />
<br />
Oh, and it should make moving a little bit easier. ;) KG + RGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09327987194782967937noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4309046736627276022.post-49200100731843008772011-03-09T06:00:00.010-05:002011-03-09T06:00:04.580-05:00Some Thoughts on Lent<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #4e2800; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: xx-small;">[If you read my blog last year, you will recognize this post!]</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #4e2800; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW4-9rYwlyY4DOGjvMaZWbHeOISxCennktUV_y75R-w2b3IfgJVzFQBgHy1sgPQe-QwmjgXXJRyMUW1wx9WvotLMwJvthS2OXP1lmyYygA9Des-35KfTJuLYXApIu8TXhenlK8nbqqHlk/s1600-h/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="color: #f48d1d; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-decoration: none;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW4-9rYwlyY4DOGjvMaZWbHeOISxCennktUV_y75R-w2b3IfgJVzFQBgHy1sgPQe-QwmjgXXJRyMUW1wx9WvotLMwJvthS2OXP1lmyYygA9Des-35KfTJuLYXApIu8TXhenlK8nbqqHlk/s1600/image.jpg" style="-webkit-box-shadow: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.199219) 0px 0px 0px; background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; border-bottom-color: transparent; border-bottom-left-radius: 0px 0px; border-bottom-right-radius: 0px 0px; border-bottom-style: solid; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-color: initial; border-left-color: transparent; border-left-style: solid; border-left-width: 1px; border-right-color: transparent; border-right-style: solid; border-right-width: 1px; border-top-color: transparent; border-top-left-radius: 0px 0px; border-top-right-radius: 0px 0px; border-top-style: solid; border-top-width: 1px; border-width: initial; padding-bottom: 8px; padding-left: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px; position: relative;" /></a></span></div><div style="color: #4e2800; line-height: 18px; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br />

It may be the perfect time to discern what we leave and what we take, what gets done and what is left undone. Those choices will ultimately show where the real treasures lie.</span></span></span></span></span><span class="style3"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; line-height: 17px;"><span style="color: black; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: x-small;"></span></span></span></blockquote><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #4e2800; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;"><span class="style3"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; line-height: 17px;"></span></span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #4e2800; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;"><br />

</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">It is important to remember that whatever you are doing for Lent, you should be doing it for yourself and strengthening your relationship with Christ, regaining focus on what He has done for us. To me, the giving up or letting go of something has always served as a reminder. When I am tempted, I should think of why I have sacrificed whatever it is. I'm giving up the same thing that I did last year -- Facebook. It can be such a distraction sometimes. So, instead of keeping up with my 700+ "friends," I will be catching up with Jesus and getting to know Him better. :) </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br />

I took advantage of it as soon as I could by going for a walk with a girlfriend at the park. Once we move, we'll be a lot closer to the park that I LOVE and it will be just in time for Spring!<br />

Ray and I hung out downtown last night. We walked the streets and enjoyed people watching... always a very entertaining thing to do in Asheville!<br />

<div><br />
</div><div>We made an offer on a house a couple of weeks ago. Fannie Mae owns it, so we were hoping to get a good deal. We knew that no one else was looking at it (or at least that no one had submitted an offer), so we went $20,000 under the list price. They made a counter offer only $1,000 less than their asking price. We just laughed! So, we took our offer up $5,000 but still asked them to pay closing costs. Again, they came down just another $1,000 and agreed to paying closing costs. We still weren't willing to pay that much, but we were about to go up another couple thousand. Here's what happened next...</div><div>Our agent tells us that the listing agent said it is now a multiple offer situation, so we could either back out, keep our offer the same, or give our highest price. We were about to up it by $2,000 and raise our earnest money, but then we decided we didn't want to get into an emotional bidding war. So, I e-mailed our agent on Tuesday night and told her we weren't going to be submitting another offer. She called us several times Wednesday morning, but I had work and Ray was still sleeping. She e-mailed us saying that she was unclear as to whether we were rescinding our offer or just not increasing it. They need to know by 10 am. Luckily, Ray got the e-mail in time and called her. At that time, we were planning on just rescinding the offer, but then she told him that the listing agent said we actually have a pretty good shot if we keep everything the same. WHAT?! So it goes from a "multiple offer situation" to: "your previous offer would keep you in the game." We went ahead and signed the papers (after the "deadline" because I was at work) and faxed everything over. </div><div>This morning, we both got to sleep in because Ray was off and I had a snow day. We were lying in bed and I checked my e-mail on my phone. There was one from our agent. I read the subject line: Congrats! </div><div>They accepted our offer! I definitely feel like we got played, but I'm so glad that we didn't budge. They still agreed with all of our initial concessions and took our offer, which wasn't even the highest we were planning on going! </div><div>We are so thrilled and of course, very scared, too! I can't wait to get in and move in. Hopefully all the inspections and everything will be fine. Our settlement date is March 31st. </div><div><br />

He did track in high school, but only because his baseball coach insisted that he do <i>something </i>during the off-season. I've tried to talk him into it many times because I've wanted him to run a 5k with me. I have only run one, and he was there for support, but I want him to actually run beside me. Looks like I might be in luck! He's been running some on the treadmill at the Y lately. He doesn't like the treadmill because it's so "boring and monotonous", but he will start running outside with me when it gets warmer.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">.....................................................................</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">House update:</div><div style="text-align: left;">Fannie Mae made a counter offer, only going down $1,000 from the list price. So, we countered back at $13,000 less than their counter, but $5,000 up from our initial offer. We made this counter offer on Tuesday and still have not heard anything back. I'm thinking that they are sitting on it to see if anyone else will submit an offer. In the meantime, we have found a lovely apartment that we will move into if we don't get the house. Can't wait to see what happens! We'll be happy with either situation because we know it's all part of His plan!<br />

We had a great time on our honeymoon! Since then, we have made the most of our life together - going to our favorite country concerts, Atlanta Braves games, NC State games, family trips (including visiting Ray's parents when they lived in Philadelphia), NASCAR races, random road trips, and of course the <i>seemingly </i>occasional weekends just sitting around at home in Asheville. When you get married, people throw lots of advice at you, but the one piece we use the most is to do a lot now--travel, explore, etc--while you don't have kids. We know that eventually we'll have kids, but for now we aren't taking it for granted that it's just us. :) <br />

Anyway, we were going to go to a nice seafood restaurant here, but... when I got home from work, Ray had gotten me flowers (a FIRST!) and had a suitcase packed. He even successfully packed everything I needed. We went to Cherokee and stayed at Harrah's Casino. It was so much fun! It was nice to get away and do something exciting - something new. We each brought $60 cash to the casino and played the slot machines. Ray wasn't so lucky - he ended up only using $15 anyway, but I actually left with $15 more than I came with! :) We haven't stayed up that late in a long long time, so we're both a little pooped today. Haha. Plus, it's a cold, rainy day so it's the perfect day to cuddle up and watch a movie. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I am so happy to be married to an amazing man who appreciates me and loves me for who I am! He knows how to make me smile and he supports me in everything I do. And because I'm not even going to try to get him to blog yet, I'll post something he wrote in his card to me: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">"I wake up every morning and thank God that he blessed me with you." </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_VpYXjSNKoYE/TUh-A5ap24I/AAAAAAAAAKY/XVSYH3NWijg/s1600/IMAG0358-783136.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568839493121334146" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_VpYXjSNKoYE/TUh-A5ap24I/AAAAAAAAAKY/XVSYH3NWijg/s320/IMAG0358-783136.jpg" style="cursor: move;" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
.......................................................</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div></div><div style="text-align: left;">House update: we didn't end up putting an offer on the house I last blogged about because the listing agent said there were already multiple offers. But, we did find another house and made an offer yesterday. We should hear soon!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>KG + RGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09327987194782967937noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4309046736627276022.post-81715888635202232802011-01-25T18:59:00.001-05:002011-01-25T19:00:40.419-05:00Moving on . . .I feel like I just got rejected by a guy I really liked! Haha. The realtor called back this evening and said that the seller made a counter offer on the other person's offer...and that a third person was making an offer tonight! Even she was surprised that this house has been sitting on the market for months and then all of a sudden, three people make offers. I guess I was more attached to it than I thought I was because I didn't think I would be upset if we didn't get it. But, after I hung up the phone I seriously felt like I had been dumped! After talking to Ray about it though, he reminded me that we will end up being in the house we were meant to be in. So, what do you do when you get dumped? You move on! <br />
<br />
We are going to see if the realtor can take us back to our "second choice" house sometime this week. We--I, especially--really liked it, but we liked the location of House #1 better. This one is also a foreclosure, and unlike the other, someone has actually lived in it. That's also what makes us a little apprehensive. House #1 was brand new, never lived in. It had all of the appliances. House #2 only has a dishwasher (no stove, no fridge). But, it's all hardwood floors, and very traditional. It's beautiful inside! Also, the list price is considerably lower than the list price on House #1, so that's always a plus. Here's a picture of House #2. We haven't made an offer or anything, but I just thought I'd go ahead and share! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaydSyoZVqi6FXBfP7jalKupBLCziyRfVIhG4NU46l6fThSy4Llgrw66khADU2I4dsrfTrrSilmooOkUoaDStE6gS9jgZxpO0KrvpW5lUyWA1sHM2H00UG9Lbd3cTLTaOrRDzjJy1EWTHS/s1600/475320b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaydSyoZVqi6FXBfP7jalKupBLCziyRfVIhG4NU46l6fThSy4Llgrw66khADU2I4dsrfTrrSilmooOkUoaDStE6gS9jgZxpO0KrvpW5lUyWA1sHM2H00UG9Lbd3cTLTaOrRDzjJy1EWTHS/s1600/475320b.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Also, there is a wide open pasture behind it! We're not sure if there are cows or horses, but it's a great view. The negative to that is that there is also barbed wire in our backyard, so if we had kids in that house we'd definitely have to put up some kind of fence to create a barrier for the wire. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And don't worry, Mama and Daddy, I'm not really getting too attached! We are putting a lot of thought into it and making sure it's the best decision for us right now. It takes a lot for Ray to be able to make a decision as big as this. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

As of that point, the seller (a firm that buys foreclosed houses) had not looked at the offers yet, but the listing agent said that our numbers were far apart. Basically, the other people had offered quite a bit more and we had to give our best price. We decided on a price that was a little under our max, but still a good amount more than our initial offer.<br />
<br />
Our realtor <i>finally</i> called this afternoon. Okay, it's only been a couple days, but it feels like forever! She said she didn't really have any news, but just wanted to call to let us know that a decision had not been made. However, she did say that the listing agent told her that the two offers were now very close to each other and that the seller was reviewing the financial backing and considering offers. We hope to hear back early tomorrow if not later today. We just want to know so we can start planning! I'll keep y'all posted. :)KG + RGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09327987194782967937noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4309046736627276022.post-15090946196309124382011-01-24T11:08:00.001-05:002011-01-24T11:09:00.078-05:00Snow snow go away...And don't come back another day! <br />
<div><br />
</div><div>Don't get me wrong, unexpected days off are a nice surprise every once in awhile, but when the make-up days get closer and closer to going into our Spring Break, it's just annoying! I would much rather have a day off when it is hot, then when it's freezing cold.</div><div><br />
</div><div>So far, they have had to add days on to the end of the year (which I will gladly accept over Spring Break days), Memorial Day is now a regular school day, and because of today's "snow" day we had to give up our Teacher Workday this Thursday and <i>also</i> have school this Saturday.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Tahoma, Arial; font-size: 16px;"><span style="color: red; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">................................</span><br />
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">WEATHER UPDATE</span><br />
<span style="color: red; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">Monday, Jan 24</span><br style="color: red; font-weight: bold;" /><span style="color: red; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">SCHOOL CLOSED </span></span></span></div><div><br />
</div><div>That's right, this morning I woke up and there was a dusting of snow on the ground. I thought we wouldn't even have a delay. But, around 5:45 I got the text message: <b>3-hour delay</b>. So, I went in at my regular time (8:00) and then 30 minutes later another text message went out: <b>CLOSED</b>. So, the assistant principal came on the overhead and said that everyone needed to go home and announced the make-up days. As far as pay, it doesn't really affect me because now I get to work on Thursday--I wouldn't have if it had been a teacher workday since I am hourly. It might even be a better deal for me if I get to work Saturday as well! We'll see! The only negative is that it is our 2 year anniversary weekend. We haven't really made any plans yet, but we definitely didn't expect for me to be at work! </div><div><br />
</div><div>But wait... there's more! This is from the Asheville Citizen-Times: </div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: blue;">According to</span></i></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: blue;"> the National Weather Service, </span></i></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: blue;">the city could get 2-3 inches of snow Tuesday and Wednesday as a storm system moves up from the Gulf and collides with cold air over the mountains. Higher elevations to the north and west of Asheville could get 3-7 inches.</span></i></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div>Actual snow days are more of a pain then days like today, because at least today I can get out and get things done! Today I've already gone to the Y and I've run some errands. So, here's to hoping for no more snow this week! (or this winter!) </div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;"><br />

<br />
I just finished up an interim kindergarten teaching position at a great elementary school, and now they have hired me full-time as a 4th grade tutor. I will be working with a few students at a time in different classrooms. I am already loving it - I started yesterday. Hours are 8-3 every school day, which means I actually have time to work out in the mornings - I better start taking advantage of that! I have really been blessed with how everything has turned out as far as a job. I did my student teaching in the fall, the teacher went out for surgery and I took over her class, and now this. What makes it even better is that I LOVE the school! <br />
<br />
Ray's job is also going well. A position change/promotion is in the works and he will be spending a month in Spartanburg to train for that. They are putting him in a hotel, but I'm sure we will meet for dinner once during the week and see each other on the weekends. (Asheville-Spartanburg is just a 45 minute drive.) Also, my grandparents are in Spartanburg so we'll definitely be spending more time with them.<br />
<br />
Ray and I have been living in the same apartment complex since before we were engaged. I moved in with my best friend, Molly, in Dec. 2007. When Ray was transferred up here (from Hickory), he moved into the complex. And when we got married, I moved into his apartment and we've been in it ever since! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUy06QA0-F8805wP0FTveH_lNxDFNFRusuLzgDnaTChk6FEKEnkPXHBAFZkzM_p8txEskKaOLXR-i5AbHTZue3bm9knyk_7Bx0LMjjGjdJfOacU4L8neXsTXyL6XdlEbw19D6Og4coU6cj/s1600/D55F39A1-7ED1-4117-AB4C-C5AFBCFCC769.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUy06QA0-F8805wP0FTveH_lNxDFNFRusuLzgDnaTChk6FEKEnkPXHBAFZkzM_p8txEskKaOLXR-i5AbHTZue3bm9knyk_7Bx0LMjjGjdJfOacU4L8neXsTXyL6XdlEbw19D6Og4coU6cj/s1600/D55F39A1-7ED1-4117-AB4C-C5AFBCFCC769.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Carson's Creek Apartments</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;"><br />
</span></div>Well, with Ray's promotion we know that we will be here for at least another 18 months, so we decided that if we found a good deal on a house, we'd go for it. With a realtor, we looked in Hendersonville (about 20 minutes from Ray's store and my school) because there are houses with more land and taxes are less. We found the perfect "starter" house in a new, gated development. It's a foreclosure (but no one has lived in it) so it is as good of a deal as we could find, given how expensive it is to live in this area! After much consideration, and some input from the parents, we made an OFFER on Thursday. WHAT?! Are we seriously buying a house?? If and only if the price is right. It's just a waiting game now. It's giving us plenty of time to pray about it and we're excited to see what God has planned for us.<br />
